The days went by faster now. One minute you could look out the window blinking wildly because of the sharp sun, the next you would be surprised that the darkness already appeared. But a whole day at Hogwarts did consist of breakfast, lessons, lunch, more lessons, a little free time mostly spent in the library, then dinner and at last finishing the homework and going to sleep. Walking down the path from the big castle of Hogwarts, Theodore didn't notice what a bright and lovely day it was. A few students were outside but it was lunch time, most would shovel bunches of food inside before next lessons. That reminded Theodore that he needed to watch the time or else he would arrive late for potions. Somewhat bored and not really knowing anyone very well, he just took a seat on the ground and started rummaging through his school bag.

Hermione couldn't believe what was going on. She had thought she would be overwhelmed with all the classes she was taking but she was doing just fine. She was reading mounds of books, doing countless records but yet she was fine. Or so she pretended to be anyway. She ended up in a heap on a bench nearby and sat back, taking a deep breath. And what was wrong with those two weird boys who were always around? That Harry and Ron? She still didn't know what to think about them. At least Harry seemed sweet but that Ron was such an idiot and a jerk too. And apparently unable to clean dirt off his nose properly.

Theo looked up from his schoolbag when someone slumped down on a bench. Just his luck, it was that know-it-all Granger. If she was here to lecture or ramble off useless facts that he could care less about, he was going to leave. It seemed as though nowhere in this school was safe. He supposed that it was only polite to say something. What would he say though? He wasn't used to talking to people like her. Rumors ran fast through Slytherin and from what he'd gathered, she was of an impure blood status. If his father heard that he'd even considered speaking to someone like her, he'd be pulled out of school. What a novel idea. He wanted to go to Durmstrang anyway and she might be his out. It would take some time and planning though, he didn't want the punishment to be worse than a simple transfer. "What's wrong? Someone burn down the library?"

Hermione looked up, not expecting anyone to notice her. She had always been so good about hiding behind books and ideas that she hoped no one would really see how pathetic she was. She jumped a little when she recognized a Slytherin and remembered they were the enemy. Of course they would pick on her being a Gryffindor. She didn't know whether to feel special or targeted. She'd figure that out later.
"No,it didn't. I have just a right to go outside as you." She turned up her nose, hoping that would hint him to leave her alone. "Don't tell me did that Ron send you to torment me?"

"What Ron? One of the Weasley rabble? I make it a point to avoid that sort whenever possible." Until now of course, he added silently. He wasn't looking to make a friend here. "Nobody said you didn't have a right to go outside, but outside is a very big place. One could argue that since I was here first, it could technically be considered my territory. You're on my turf now, little Gryffindor so you can knock off that prissy, know-it-all act. That little act of yours is precisely why nobody in their right mind will even speak to you." He sat up very straight and simply looked at her, studied her. What right did she have to be prissy? She had buck teeth, bushy hair, wasn't very pretty, everything was against her, apparently even the fates. He waited, trying to read her expression, curious about what made her tick.

Hermione gasped, almost about ready to burst into tears. But she kept them back miraculously as she barked back at him. "For one thing, you sound like a rabid dog with your talk about territory, a cur if you don't mind. And people DO talk to me." She just couldn't exactly name one at the moment."And I don't see your NAME anywhere around here. It's just as much mine as it is yours. I'm not leaving just because I wanted a breath of fresh air."
She said, folding her arms. He wasn't going to win. She was just as stubborn perhaps even moreso. She wondered what he would do now....give her a wedgie or something stupid like bullies did? She had encountered a few in regular muggle school and they hadn't been friendly at all.

"I don't see your name anywhere around here," he mocked her in a nasally voice. He took a quill out of his school bag and turned to face the nearest bench. Putting a lot of pressure on the writing utensil, he proceeded to scratch his name into it, unconcerned about whether or not it would land him in detention. When he finished, he blew away the dust and there, in a childish, eleven year old scrawl, was his name. "Well, my name is here now and in ancient times, when someone's name was on something, that automatically made it theirs. So apparently you are in my territory. Oh, I'm curious about one thing, where do you get off calling me a cur? People like you aren't fit to even be around people like me. House elves garner more respect than someone like you ever will." He sneered at her. As stubborn as she thought she was, he could be worse, much worse.

Hermione got to her feet, growling. He had pushed the limit, the little jerk. "Don't mention house elves like that. They have rights too you know. And I'd much rather have my blood than yours if it stops me from being an arrogant territorial jerk. Yes, I mean you. Unless you don't know what any of those words mean. And honestly, mocking me? Can't you get anymore creative than that? I've gotten better from muggles." She knew that would set him off but she grabbed her book anyway. She had had enough of his polluting the atmosphere already with his breath.
"And this isn't ancient times. If you want to be a neandrathal, be my guest."

"Then go back to the muggles. Merlin knows we don't want your kind here. Trust me, this is just the tip of the iceberg. You'll get much worse from my house-mates. They won't stop til you run or die, whichever happy event comes first. I just hope I'm there to see it." This girl was both annoying and pathetic. His father was right, Hogwarts had definitely lowered it's standards. Apparently they'd take anything in these days. "Go on then, run off and hide in your little common room with the rest of your lot."

Iceberg? Hermione supposed he was right. Funny a Slytherin being right about something that didn't involve...well technically it did involve being a jerk. "Fine. I'd much rather be there with them than sharing oxygen with you." She said, biting her lip a little nervously. "But not before a warning. Petrificus....totalus!" She said, shooting the spell at him from her wand. She only hoped no one would catch her. She couldn't stand being sentenced to detention. She was too young to die! Just the thought of that or getting expelled sent chills down her spine.
She looked at him again and smirked. "yeah, I guess Hogwarts really HAS lowered its standards."

Theo got hit with the spell before he even had time to react. He felt himself quickly going rigid and was powerless to stop it. He fell backwards and thankfully landed in the grass, rather than breaking his neck hitting one of the benches. He knew he deserved it, but actually experiencing it was another thing entirely. She was going to pay for this.

Pansy had been walking around aimlessly when she had heard voices she followed them and could see to familiar faces one of which was a person in her common room, both were in her year she smiled at the boy, and walked over to him she turned and faced the girl it was a gryffindor and then could see it was hermionie granger a friend of the potter boy she smirked at her. "So whats going on here then... casting spells on other students that i think is against the rules"She said with a smile on here face, pansy had never spoken to Hermionie before but seeing her cast spells on her friends angered her but she didnt raise her voice this time she simply waited for a reply.

Hermione glared. APparently the Slytherins were growing brains of some kind. Rules? Her eyes widened. It WAS against the rules. She gulped. She couldn't get detention. Then she might even get expelled before she even had her first test. That stupid Slytherin boy had pushed her and that was frustrating enough. What was she going to do now?
"It is so in the rule....I mean...I can....shut up, you don't know what you're talking about. And besides i thought your kind didn't follow the rules anyway. What would you care was in them?"

Pansy laughed at her. "My kind do you mean the pureblood kind, just because we're not filthy. Anyway we have brains and you have broken a rule now, apologise to a slytherin or i will tell a professor and you shall have a detention... how fun will that be"She smirked she found remarkably rude that a muggle blood was shouting at her and also the perfect little granger had disobeyed the rules. "Theo are you ok"She asked she was ofcourse concerned for her friend and wasnt just going to question Hermionie but ask how her friend was.

Theo slowly snapped out of the full body bind he was in. Pushing himself up to a sitting position, he saw Pansy and noticed that Granger was still there. He didn't like being taken off guard like that, especially with Pansy there. He would rather nobody had seen him like that. Automatically, his hand went to his wand pocket, ready this time if she tried anything else. "Yeah, Pansy, I'm fine. I just fell."
